We had a fantastic week presenting to teachers and students in the Riverina and Southern Highlands of NSW. Students participated in workshops on Legal Responses to Criminal Organisations in NSW, Human Rights and the Racial Discrimination Act and Freedom of Speech and the Right to Assemble.
The 140 enthusiastic and engaged students we spoke to and their many interesting insights and probing questions.
Special mention of the many Year 10 students who have chosen Legal Studies for Year 11 in 2014 who attended our workshops.
The wide ranging discussion and professional collaboration at the RIvSSTA Professional Development afternoon in Wagga Wagga.
Angus Harrowell and Julianne Carroll from South West Slopes Law Society discussed the practical work of a solicitor and shared some great anecdotes from their practice. They also expressed some concerns about the consequences for their clients due to recent changes to the right to silence in NSW.
Thanks for the wonderful hospitality of Chevalier College, Temora High School, Kooringal High School, Riverina Social Science Teachers Association, Corowa High School and Albury High School.
