Following our meeting with the Sheriff’s, we have been informed that the Sydney CBD Courts will not open for school excursions in the near future.

Even though the Courts have returned to regular court operations, students are unable to sit in on cases due to Social Distancing requirements.

We are working with the Judiciary to find alternative arrangements, however for the time being School groups are unable to visit the Sydney CBD Courts.

It is expected that Schools will not be able to attend the Sydney CBD Courts in Term 2 and unless we can arrange a Covid-Safe Option, possibly even Term 3.

When we know more details we will keep you posted both on this page, via our mailing list, on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  Should you require any further information please contact courtvisit@ruleoflaw.org.au

In the meantime, our Law Day Facilitators have put together some resources that give you a taste of a Court Excursion that you can share with your students:

 LAW DAY OUT Court Excursion Program

The Law Day Out (LDO) is a paid court excursion for Years 10, 11 and 12 school students that includes the Rule of Law Education team:

  • arranging a court or judicial officer to speak to students about their work and the rule of law;
  • Law Day Out Facilitators guiding students in their observation of court matters;
  • liaising with the courts and making all the necessary arrangements for a LDO.

LDO’s start at 8:30am.  If your school is unable to be outside the Courts at 8:30am you will need to book a Court Visit.

If you have an urgent need for a LDO please email courtvisit@ruleoflaw.org.au.  Booking for Term 4 will open soon.
